Bauma 2019 will break all records as the global market revives

November 19, 2018

Bauma 2019 in Munich is going to be the biggest yet with the organisers gearing up to host 3,500 exhibitors and 600,000 visitors in 18 halls and 614,000m2 of show space. Two new halls have been opened up for the 2019 show and the exhibition’s partner country will be Canada, the seventh-largest market in the world for construction machinery. Canada’s construction sector growth is expected to grow by 3% per annum each year until 2020.

Organiser Messe Munchen has also chosen Canada because it is “one of the world’s top five producing countries for almost all mineral resources” and the show has a large aggregates and mining element. 20% of bauma exhibitors will have products on display, aimed at the mining sector, and a quarter of all the visitors come from the aggregates and mining industry.

Headline themes will be: “Digitisation, efficiency and sustainability” say the organisers, and the show will break down its organisation layout around the following clusters: “Telematics, networked construction sites and BIM; autonomous driving, electric mobility, electric drives and zero emissions; remote control, maintenance and automation; new construction materials, textile-reinforced concrete and UHPC; processing, recycling, workplace safety and user friendliness; as well as sustainable mining and the planning, decommissioning and recultivation of mines.”

The event will also take place in a global market that is still recovering from the global financial crisis of 2008. Many of the world’s market are on the up, and the overall climate feels positive. Here is the latest global sales trend map from VDMA, the German trade association for the construction equipment industry:

“The industry is booming,” says Klaus Dittrich, chairman and CEO of Messe München. And This “is reflected in the growth of bauma. We’ve taken account of the rise in demand and expanded our site in eastern Munich to 614,000m2. Our aim is to offer a platform to as many exhibitors as possible.”

For the first time, visitors will be able to experience the industry virtually – thanks to virtual and augmented reality. This is made possible through a combination of images, sound, or sensor feedback, such as wind. “The booths have size limits, the digital areas is limitless. With new virtual offerings, we’re bringing the construction site into the trade fair and expanding our digital portfolio,” says project manager Mareile Kästner.

Bauma 2019 will take place in Munich from April 8 to 14 2019 and it will be the biggest exhibition of any kind, in any industry, anywhere in the world. For more details go to www.bauma.de
