National cement consumption in Peru dropped to 298,000 tonnes in May 2020, marking a drop of 69.1% fall on the same month in 2019, according to data presented by trade association Asocem.
This drop has been attributed to the COVID-19 lockdown.
Notably, cement consumption fell by 50.3% and 99.04% in March and April, respectively.
As for cement exports, Peru exported 283,000 metric tonnes in May 2020, marking a drop of 70.5% compared to the same month in 2019.
