Cemex USA honoured by Texan by Nature for sustainability efforts

January 2, 2019

Cemex USA has been honoured by Texan by Nature, a non-profit conservation organisation, for its commitment to sustainability and land preservation.

This recognition stems Cemex's involvement in the El Carmen Land and Conservation (ECLCC), a partnership with J. Austin Ranches which oversees the US portion of a private trans-boundary nature preserve called El Carmen.

El Carmen comprises 350,000 acres in Texas and Mexico and hosts a range of plants, birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians.

Joel Galassini, Cemex USA's regional president, says: “We are not only committed to restoring habitats and wildlife there but strive to extend that commitment to our operations.”

Last year, ECLCC was one of six projects named as a Conservation Wrangler by Texan by Nature. In 2017, Texas Parks and Wildlife honoured Cemex and ECLCC for conservation efforts with the Lone Star Steward Award for the Trans Pecos region.
