Cemex Ventures invests in Prysmex's accident prevention solution

June 4, 2018

Cemex Ventures has invested in Mexico-based startup Prysmex's solution that helps to detect and prevent workplace accidents through internet of things and real-time data collection. Cemex evaluated the device and has installed it at all cement plants in Mexico.

Through the agreement, Prysmex is said to now have access to a wide-ranging portfolio of industry contracts.

The product features a web platform with a management app that monitors the environmental and geolocation variables of unsafe acts and conditions on customized 3D maps. Prysmex provides analysis of data such as impacts, light and noise levels, locations, temperatures and the presence of toxic gases.

Workers place the device on their helmets which alerts them to potential situations and high-risk areas. Additionally, its web application delivers an analytical report of workers’ and plant conditions.

The innovation was founded by Susana Ruiz and civil engineer Patricio de Villa in Monterrey, Mexico. Prysmex was the finalist of Cemex Ventures Startup Competition 2017.
