Raymond James Curtis has been sentenced to ten years in prison for starting a fire at a Waite Park granite quarry, says KSTP ABC 5 News.
Court records show that the former Martin Marietta employee from St. Cloud was sentenced at Stearns County court. He had pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree arson, 15 counts of second-degree arson and one count of unlawful disposal of hazardous waste in February. Curtis then amended his please in April to guilty on the two counts of first-degree arson and seven of the 15 counts of second-degree arson, as part of a plea deal.
According to the report, investigators spoke to several employees and determined that Curtis had made threatening comments about the company since he was fired in October 2014. Authorities found a Gatorade bottle in the trash that matched the production number and expiration code of a partially burned bottle found in an electrical box at the quarry.
