Granite wins $27 million waterfront project in Seattle

August 2, 2019

Granite has been awarded a $27 million sub-contract by Gary Merlino Construction Company to build a portion of the Alaskan Wat Project in Seattle, Washington.

The project is part of a $724 million investment to rebuild Seattle’s central waterfront.

The scope of the work includes the construction of new bridge structures and soldier pile retaining walls that span over and along an existing Burlington Northern Santa Fe railway alignment. Granite will also modify an existing pedestrian bridge, rebuild and elevated walkway and implement multiple seismic upgrades.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the Autumn of 2019 and will be completed by 2021. The project will be booked in Granite’s second quarter 2019 backlog.
