MDU Resources has acquired South Dakota-based aggregates provider Sweetman Const and expects the deal to be accretive to earnings per share. Sweetman’s 260 employees will join the company’s subsidiary Knife River.
Sweetman, which operates as Concrete Materials Company, also provides asphalt and ready-mix concrete in Sioux Falls.
According to MDU Resources, Sweetman’s business comprises 55 million tonnes of aggregates reserves, three asphalt plants and seven ready-mix plants, with a fleet of 65 ready-mix trucks.
