June 11, 2018

The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) has made a $10,537,000 fund available to train and retrain miners and mine operators working at surface and underground mines.

All states where mining takes place may apply for the grant under the Section 503 of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act 1977. MSHA may fund 80% of the activities under a grant programme while the state must provide matching funds of no less than 20% of the total costs.

Applications must be submitted online by 16 July 2018.
