NSSGA opens nominations for Safety & Health Professional of the Year

June 27, 2018

The National, Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) has opened nominations for the James M. Christie Safety & Health Professional of the Year Award to be submitted by 1 August.

The award recognises individuals for substantial commitment and contributions to safe and healthy practices within their company and the industry.

Mark Rock, senior vice president of risk management for CalPortland, received the award last year for creating a programme which managed compliance and worker safety and health.

NSSGA says Rock's process pushed the company to pursue a more thorough approach to avoiding accidents which included an auditing programme and safety training for specific pieces of equipment.

More information is available on the website for those interested in nominating a leader for the award. Submissions can also be sent to vice president of safety policy Joe Casper via email at [email protected].
