NSSGA: webinar on new technologies and aggregates, 30 January 2018

January 29, 2018

The National Sand, Stone & Gravel Association (NSSGA) will host a webinar focusing on new technologies that aggregates operations can use to track and manage workers’ dust exposure. The session is available to its members for free on the 30 January 2018.

Called Getting Same-Day Silica Sample Results: NIOSH Advanced Exposure Assessment Tools, it has been developed by researchers at the National Institutes for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH). More information on the one hour session can be found here.

Dale Drysdale, NSSGA’s vice president of occupational & environmental health, said: “NIOSH’s Helmet-CAM technology is a unique way to couple a miner’s exposure monitoring data with matching video of their activities. It can help identify processes and behaviors—which might surprise you—that can impact workers’ dust exposures.” NIOSH researchers will also tell participants about a field-based approach to respirable crystalline silica monitoring that can easily provide results at mine sites for timely exposure assessment.
