Scott Pruitt has been confirmed by the US Senate to lead the Environmental Protection Agency.
The vote of 52-46 was mostly along party lines. Republican Sen. Susan Collins, Maine, voted against Pruitt and Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., voted in support of him.
The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association supported Pruitt for the EPA administrator role “because of his proven track record of balancing industry and environmental concerns.”
“As the Attorney General for Oklahoma, he worked to combat regulations like the EPA’s Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule and other examples of federal agency overreach. More than half of the states are working with businesses and associations to combat Wotus.”
“President Trump continues to express a desire for a $1 trillion investment in our country’s infrastructure. NSSGA and the aggregates industry looks forward to producing the aggregates needed to repair our roads, bridges and highways by working with an EPA that understands the industries it regulates,” the association said.
