Cornwall Chamber of Mines and Minerals elects new chairman

The public face of the mining and minerals industry in the far south-west of England, the Cornwall Chamber of Mines and Minerals, has elected Ian Lamond of leading south-west law firm, 2974 Stephens Scown LLP, as its new chairman at its annual meeting

The Chamber advises Cornwall Council and Devon County Council on the protection of minerals in the two counties and is consulted on minerals developments as part of the planning process. It consequently has a vital role to play in the re-awakening of this significant history of the South West, bringing it firmly into the 21st century.

Ian Lamond, a partner with Stephens Scown, which has its roots in the Cornish mining and minerals industry from the 1930s, is a key member of the firm’s Mining and Minerals team which lays claim to more than 200 cumulative years of experience within the industry.

Lamond is also a member of the CBI Minerals Committee, a director of the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and is listed as a leader in his field by independent legal guide, Chambers UK.

Stephens Scown has over 40 partners and 230 staff across its offices in Exeter, Truro and St Austell.
