The new Eco-Drive programme is designed to identify opportunities to tackle waste and improve performance, while reducing fuel, maintenance and component costs. It follows on from the successful Finning Eco-Drive training programme, which was launched in 2009 and has seen over 1,700 participants take part.
Developed and pioneered in conjunction with leading players in the waste industry, the specialist Eco-Drive programme has been designed to address the specific issues associated with plant operating in waste handling and processing operations. Aimed at reducing overall operating costs by up to 10% per machine per customer, the specially adapted programme is said by Finning UK to be the first of its kind in the UK.
The one-day course, tailored to the specific audience from landfill operations to waste transfer stations and materials recycling facilities, is made up of specific modules, each designed to drive up productivity, cut out waste, increase component life and improve health and safety onsite.
“Due to the nature and variety of waste operations in the UK, the sector itself is very specific when it comes to the use of plant and equipment. So when it came to looking at how we could help the industry to increase productivity, make valuable cost savings and improve health and safety, it was obvious that an industry specific Eco-Drive training programme was required,” says Jonathon Davies, Finning strategic account manager for waste.
“With having such a positive experience in the delivery of Eco-Drive into other industry sectors, Finning knew it could deliver a valuable training solution into the waste sector to achieve the savings and performance enhancement the industry was crying out for.
“Having tested the solution with a number of leading industry players, we are now at a point where we can roll out the programme to the industry at large. The aim is to replicate the success of previous programmes and make sure that the waste sector in the UK is at the forefront of meeting the global waste challenge.”
