The UK HTMA (
Geoff Allister, currently chief executive of Northern Ireland’s Road Service, will take over from David Hutchinson at the beginning of November.
Tony Gates, HTMA chairman said: “We were very pleased when Geoff accepted the executive director’s role. His experience and connections from the various prominent positions he has held will be invaluable to the Association.
“Known to many of us already and held in high regard, Geoff’s own vision for what HTMA can achieve was a clear fit for the ambitions we have, and have been discussing at executive and committee meetings. Geoff has a hard act to follow but I am sure he will rise to the challenge. My thanks go to David Hutchinson for his leadership and unswerving enthusiasm.”
Commenting recently Geoff said: "I have watched with interest the development of HTMA since its formation in 2005 and the enormous strides it has made, rising to a position of prominence and influence within the highways maintenance industry. The Association and its Members are clearly valued and respected for their knowledge and expertise. Importantly, HTMA is now working in partnership with government to make best use of the significant financial investment in the highways infrastructure.
"I am delighted to be taking up the role as executive director for this progressive organisation and I hope to build on the good work of my predecessor, David Hutchinson. This is an exciting time for the industry and I am enthusiastic about the part I can play in helping the Association to continue to develop and improve the social and economic well-being of the nation through the effective and efficient maintenance of our highway infrastructure," said Allister.
