The speed with which construction costs have risen in Finland in recent years is due to slow down, according to the RAKSU working group that monitors trends in the country’s construction sector.
In civil engineering, the increase in costs has been faster than in the construction of buildings but is expected to slow down in the autumn and winter of 2012. The index measuring demand for construction materials has turned downward in the second quarter of 2012. Meanwhile, sales of concrete fell by more than 3%, and sales of concrete elements by 8%.
RAKSU said that even a recession was possible. The working group expects commercial and industrial building, in particular, to decrease in 2013.
