Rick Green has been appointed managing director of 1343 Hanson UK’s Leicestershire, England-based asphalt and quarrying business MQP (4606 Midland Quarry Products).

He moves from his role as managing director of Hanson Contracting to replace Dave Bagshaw, who has retired after 39 years in the industry.

MQP consists of three quarries and 10 asphalt plants located across the Midlands. It was operated as a joint venture with 868 Tarmac until 2013, when Hanson wholly acquired the company.

“MQP has a great heritage and reputation and I am looking forward to be involved in shaping the next phase in its development,” said Rick, who has over 25 years’ operational and commercial experience in the highway construction and maintenance sector.

“It’s exciting to lead a business with customer satisfaction, quality and reliability at its core.”

Green has also been chair of the Asphalt Industry Alliance (AIA) since 2017 and is driving its continued campaign to increase awareness of the asphalt industry and to promote the uses and benefits of asphalt to specifiers, policymakers and the general public. The AIA was established in 2000 and is a partnership between the Mineral Products Association (MPA) and Eurobitume UK.
