The Excellence Awards recognise operations that demonstrate a commitment to the exemplary use of environmental controls and systems. NSSGA recognised 9 Gold, 10 Silver and 99 Bronze environmental winners during the first general session of the Legislative & Policy Forum.
“NSSGA members take pride in responsible stewardship of the land, air and water,” said NSSGA President & CEO Michael Johnson. “Every winner deserves congratulations for their role in advancing the industry’s commitment to our environment.”
Additionally, John Richards of Air Control Techniques was named the 2024 Environmental Leadership Winner. Richards founded Air Control Techniques in 1993 after 20 years of experience in engineering and air pollution control. His award recognises his decades-long work to keep the industry out of onerous and expensive Title V permits and his more recent efforts using EPA data to demonstrate the wide-ranging impacts of a reduced P.M. 10 standard. His work for NSSGA members has saved substantial resources for the aggregates industry and provided the technical context for many NSSGA policy positions.
Cemex’s FEC Quarry, located northwest of Miami in Doral, Florida, was announced as the 2024 Environmental Platinum winner, the top-scoring gold. A complete listing of the 2024 Award winners can be found at nssga.org/awards.
