As part of a team restructuring, Blue Machinery (Scotland) has announced several strategic appointments to further strengthen their already high level of customer service and support.

Dermot Donaghy has been promoted from his position as Senior Sales Manager to Sales Director, having joined the business nine years ago. He will be concentrating on the crushing and screening sector, while fellow Sales Director Alistair Rees will continue to focus on key accounts within the aggregate washing and static waste recycling sectors.

Dermot began his career in the industry 15 years ago with his father’s engineering company Fabcon Engineering based in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland which has grown to become one of the leading manufacturers of forklift and lorry attachments in Ireland and the UK. Married to Amy last July the couple have just welcomed their first baby, Daithi James into the family.

Prior to joining Blue Machinery (Scotland) Dermot spent two years in the crushing & screening industry with Powerscreen Ireland. In his new role as Sales Director, Dermot will assume responsibility for the existing sales team and manage his key account customers. He will also be working closer with Blue Machinery (Scotland)’s current OEMs in the crushing & screening, concrete manufacturing, waste shredding and scrap handling markets.

“Our business is all about building strong and lasting relationships with our customers, making sure we provide the right solutions that are in their best interests,” says Dermot. “We offer world class equipment, backed up by a world class team. We have specialists in every department – from our sales team and skilled engineers to the admin department who are all critical to our continued success as a company.”

Dermot will be supported in his new role by a recent addition to the Blue Machinery Scotland team, Owen Gourley, who has been appointed Technical Sales Manager.

Owen has many years of experience in the crushing & screening industry and will work alongside Dermot, Alistair and the existing sales team. He will provide technical and application support for customers, whilst also looking after sales for Powerscreen, Terex Washing Systems, Semix batching plants and MDS in the Scottish Borders and North East of England.

“I am looking forward to meeting all of our customers to help them get the best from their machinery and to sort out any potential issues on site,” says Owen, a father of two from the Scottish Borders who for many years managed and operated a large fleet of crushing and screening equipment for a large quarry and infrastructure contracts business across Scotland and the North of England.

Managing Director of Blue Scotland, Austin Carey, adds: “With Dermot’s focus and hard work, he and the team has helped grow our market share, continuing to provide our customers with a high level of service and support. Alistair has also done an excellent job developing the Terex Washing Systems (TWS) range with our customer base, securing several multi-million-pound contracts for TWS plants, some of which are currently being installed.”

In addition, the Blue Machinery Scotland team will have increased support from Kirsteen Marke who last year celebrated 10 years’ service as Office Manager in the business.

“She will be working closely with myself, Dermot and Alistair in a business development role to help drive synergies and align products within our existing customer base. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the team on their continued success and thank our growing customer base for their loyalty and support over the years,” says Austin, who also revealed that Blue Machinery Scotland have recently been appointed as the first Powerscreen Certified Training Centre in Europe. The business managed to achieve this through the hard work and dedication from both Robbie Brennan and Joe Fraser, who worked tirelessly in the training arena with both customers and internal team members.
