Volvo CE and SDLG brands are displayed side by side at the international construction, quarrying and mining machine exhibition taking place 24-27 November 2020 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).
Together, their distinct advantages and benefits make Volvo a complete solutions provider in China. Volvo Penta and Volvo Financial Services are also part of the Volvo Group booth.
The Volvo Group’s presence in the Chinese market dates back almost 30 years, and today the company has every one of the Volvo Group’s business units and service departments with approximately 5,000 employees.
Volvo CE is using bauma CHINA 2020 to unveil its first-ever excavators to be designed and manufactured in China, especially for Chinese customers. The new excavators ranging from 12 to 90 tons come in two ranges – Standard and Heavy Duty. The Standard excavator range is suitable for a wide variety of general construction applications and is designed for digging and lifting in urban environments. The Heavy-Duty range, meanwhile, brings high-performance machines to the market, featuring lasting durability, advanced technology and low operating cost even in the most difficult terrain.
Ten models will be progressively launched in 2021 across both ranges with the EC380 Standard and Heavy-Duty models set to hit the market during the first half of 2021.
It takes more than well-built machines to get the job done, which is why the Volvo Service Commitment and Volvo Services offer is also a highlight for Volvo CE at bauma CHINA 2020. The Commitment has three main pillars – professionalism, uptime commitment, and customized solutions – targeting guaranteed uptime, improved customer productivity, and continued value creation for customers. Visitors to the exhibition can explore this commitment and the services on offer in the yellow shipping container, housing an aftermarket mobile care module, as well as in the various demo shows. Financial services, provided by Volvo Financial Services, are also included in the Volvo Service Commitment, enabling a one-stop-shop experience.
Other highlights from the company’s participation at bauma CHINA 2020 include the 5.5-ton Volvo EC55 Electric and 22-tonne EC230 Electric customer pilot excavators, which are the first Volvo CE electromobility pilots to be launched in China and will shortly go for testing by real customers in China. These machines offer an attractive package of low noise, zero emissions, energy efficiency and simple maintenance.
Volvo CE is presenting these two customer pilot excavators along with the 14-tonne EX03 electric wheeled excavator prototype in a demo show. This machine includes several groundbreaking safety features – a real-time video stream from the front of the excavator to allow vehicles behind to clearly see ahead, a text-based safety screen alerting job site staff to left/right movement and reversing, and a live communication stream enabling the operator to make eye contact with others and minimize potentially dangerous misunderstandings.
Volvo CE is also this week showcasing a model of the Volvo Electric Site concept, which combines prototype electric and automated machines with site management tools to inspire new ways of working in quarries and other production scenarios to achieve zero emissions, zero accidents, zero unplanned stops and ten times greater efficiency.
Volvo CE appreciates that not all customers who would like to attend bauma CHINA will be able to this year so has designed a virtual experience to make the event as inclusive as possible. For example, visitors will be able to have a look around the Volvo booth with digital media, get hours of live-streamed and on-demand content from the show, and interact with Volvo experts in a real-time chat. To participate, simply scan the QR code.
