Metso has predicted a healthy market outlook for both the minerals and flow control businesses following the recently-announced merger between the Metso Minerals operation and the Outotec Group.

LafargeHolcim has launched a project in Canada to build what it claims will be the world’s first full-cycle solution to capture and reuse CO2 from a cement plant while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Chinese cement industry profit was up nearly 20% in the first half of this year, compared to the same period of 2018, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics.

Profit levels hit CNY 80 billion (US$11.63bn) in the January to June 2019 period, while cement industry output rose 6.8% to 1.05 billion tonnes. The average cement price also increased over the six-month period by nearly CNY 20 (US$2.90) per tonne.
