2836 Weir Minerals has launched the WEMCO extra-heavy-duty vortex pumps range across Europe, following its success in the French market.

The WEMCO range, which is designed to handle large and abrasive solids and corrosive fluids, has been manufactured and sold in France for 60 years. It now complements the Weir Minerals’ WARMAN range of slurry pumps across the rest of Europe.

WEMCO pumps use vortex technology, with a recessed impeller that allows pipe-sized solids to pass easily, reducing abrasion and minimising the risk of clogging, thereby reducing the down-time in blockage-prone applications including in sewage and food processing works.

A simple design with minimal components and thick-walled castings allows WEMCO pumps to deliver the most rugged performance for the heaviest duty applications in industries including mining and dredging.

Tony G. Locke, managing director of Weir Minerals Europe, said: “WEMCO pumps are known for their unrivalled versatility and reliability, even in extreme situations. Given the pumps’ success and the positive feedback we’ve received from customers in France, now feels like the perfect time to bring them to the rest of Europe.

“Customers can be assured that for high-intensity transfer of fluids containing abrasive and corrosive material, WEMCO will not fail. Crucially, the pumps are also incredibly low maintenance, reducing the overall cost of ownership, and our network of expert support staff will ensure each piece of equipment is performing at the optimum level.

“As we continue to invest in our service and aftermarket offering, customers of Weir Minerals products can enjoy complete peace of mind, wherever the equipment is used.”
