China cement sector profits rise 29.7% Jan-Aug 2014

The total profit of China's cement industry increased year-on-year by 29.7% to US$7.51 billion (CNY 46.20bn) during January to August 2014, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. The total profit of China's cement industry increased year-on-year by 29.7% to US$7.51 billion (CNY 46.20bn) during January to August 2014, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

Out of 31 provinces and autonomous regions in China, Shandong and Anhui provinces topped the ranking with an average profit of above $812.81 million (CNY 5 billion). Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Beijing and Xinjiang reported losses in the eight-month period, with Xinjiang and Shanxi posted the biggest losses at $102.41 million (CNY 630 million) and $117.04 million (CNY 720 million) respectively.

Among the six major cement regional markets in China, the northern region was the only market that suffered losses. The largest profit contributor was the eastern region, with profits jumping 138% to $3.18 billion (CNY 19.6 billion). The profit of the southern cement market grew 98% to $2.73 billion (CNY 16.8 billion).
