Vicat posts 6.1% rise in turnover for first nine months of 2014

French construction materials group Vicat has posted a 6.2% rise in turnover (up 7.4% at a constant scope and exchange rate) for the third-quarter of 2014. French construction materials group 684 Vicat has posted a 6.2% rise in turnover (up 7.4% at a constant scope and exchange rate) for the third-quarter of 2014.

Over a nine-month period, turnover rose by 6.1% year-on-year (up 9.7% at a constant scope and exchange rate) to €1.85 billion (US$2.32 billion).

During this period, concrete and aggregate activity was up 0.9%, other products and services up 1.9%, and cement sales up 15.8% at a constant scope and exchange rate.

The proportion of turnover generated by cement rose from 51.1% as of 30 September, 2013 to 53.6%, while that of other products and services was down to 14.7%, and concrete and aggregate sales declined from 33.5% of turnover a year earlier to 31.8%.

In terms of regions, France recorded a 2.2% decline over nine months, while Vicat's main growth zones remain Africa and the Middle East, up 2.5% to €301 million, and Asia (Turkey, India and Kazakhstan), with 28% growth to €403 million.
