France: Vicat sales down 1.5% in Q3 2013

In the third quarter of 2013, Vicat posted sales of €593 million, down 1.5% due to negative currency effects, but up 3.1% at constant scope and exchange rates. The French construction materials group's Concrete and Aggregates activity grew 10.8% during the period, while its Cement sales fell 1.6% at constant scope and exchange rates. Vicat's Other Products and Services activity was down 0.7% during the third quarter of 2013.

In the third quarter of 2013, 684 Vicat posted sales of €593 million, down 1.5% due to negative currency effects, but up 3.1% at constant scope and exchange rates.

The French construction materials group's Concrete and Aggregates activity grew 10.8% during the period, while its Cement sales fell 1.6% at constant scope and exchange rates.

Vicat's Other Products and Services activity was down 0.7% during the third quarter of 2013.

Vicat notes that it witnessed a good performance in Turkey, Switzerland, the US and Kazakhstan, while political and safety factors continued to penalise its performance in Egypt, and competitive factors penalised its performance in India and Senegal.

Vicat's sales over the first nine months of 2013 grew 0.6% (+3.2% at constant scope and exchange rates) to €1.74 billion. Its Cement activity represented 51.1% of operational turnover (52.6% in 2012); its Concrete and Aggregates activity represented 33.5% (31.9%) and its Other Products and Services activity accounted for 15.3% (15.4%).
