7447 Hope Construction Materials, Britain’s leading independent concrete producer has just completed the supply of almost 12,000m³ of ready-mixed concrete to a new Scottish wind farm being built by renewable energy specialists Community Windpower.
The concrete has provided the foundations for 19 new wind turbines at Aikengall II Community Wind Farm (East of Edinburgh) each of which will stand at 145 metres, among the tallest in the UK.
Hope’s Dunbar and Dalkieth ready-mix plants supplied the bespoke concrete using 17 mixer trucks on Tuesdays and Thursdays over a two-month period.
Set to be commissioned in August 2016, the wind farm will generate 68.4 Megawatts of clean, green, locally sourced energy, supplying electricity to more than 42,000 homes, displacing around 77,000tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum.
