Leading infrastructure services company FM 2949 Conway has been named UK Construction Recycler of the Year at the Materials Recycling World (MRW) National Recycling Awards.

The National Recycling Awards is the only cross-sector recycling and waste management event, designed to recognise and reward recycling best practice across the breadth of British industry.  The Construction Recycler of the Year award recognises companies in the construction sector who champion the careful use of resources, and have embedded waste prevention into the company’s culture.

FM Conway was recognised by the judges for its circular economic approach to the recycling and reuse of construction waste, which sees 98 per cent of all waste recycled and nearly half a million tonnes of construction materials diverted from landfill each year.

Andrew Hansen, chief operating officer at FM Conway, said: “Being able to deliver construction projects sustainably is one of the cornerstones of our business model. This award demonstrates our continued commitment to this principle in everything we do, and is testament to the dedication of all our colleagues who ensure that recycling remains at the heart of our operation each and every day.”

Robin Latchem, editor of MRW said of the awards, said: “We were proud to highlight the excellent winners on the night who, together, show how innovative and forward-thinking our industry is.  These examples of best practice are a beacon to others who are increasingly realising they have to be smarter in terms of recycling, waste reduction and resource efficiency.”

FM Conway was presented with the award at the Park Lane London Hilton hotel on Wednesday 1 July 2015.
