Imerys completes divestment to Bouyer Leroux

The French competition authority has approved the acquisition of terracotta brick specialist Imerys Structure by cooperative brick manufacturer Bouyer Leroux. Following an in-depth examination of the acquisition, the authority has ruled that the group must sell 25,000tonnes of wall bricks at cost price to two competitors or a wholesaler active in the distribution and trade networks in Aquitaine each year for a five-year period. French industrial minerals specialist Imerys saw a 4% fall in its net profit to €155 million in the first half of 2013. The firm’s turnover was also down 4% to €1.88 billion in H1 2013. Growth continued in North America, but the prolonged recession in the Eurozone is said to have continued to weigh on results, notably in the construction and industry sectors.

For the third-quarter 2014, turnover for French industrial minerals specialist Imerys was up 2% to €943.80 million (US$1.18 billion), or up 3.9% on a constant perimeter and currency basis compared with the same period in 2013.
Net income was up 6.1% to €75.1 million.
In the third-quarter Western Europe accounted for 45% of sales, followed by North America (24%) and emerging countries (26%).

French industrial minerals specialist Imerys has completed a €500 million bond issue due to mature in December 2024 with an annual coupon of 2%, as well as a €100 million tap at 2.5% which is due to mature in November 2020.

The Imerys group reported a turnover exceeding €4 billion in 2015, up 10.8%, with a €538 million operating income, up 9%.

However, at constant scope, income receded by 4%, while net income stood at €68.4 million, compared to €272 million in 2014.

Indeed, Imerys froze activity in its plants focusing on oil customers, as the fall in oil prices led the French industrial minerals producer and processor to losing €209 million in its oil solutions division.
