Indonesia’s cement industry to see higher demand until end-2015

The national infrastructure development is believed to have boosted cement sales in Indonesia since August 2015. The national infrastructure development is believed to have boosted cement sales in Indonesia since August 2015.

Out of the overall bulk cement sale, some 50% is for national infrastructure development, according to 7818 Semen Indonesia's managing director Suparn, who also believes that until the end of 2015 the cement sale increase is set to be between 2% and 3% year-on-year.

A 17.8% hike has been seen in the national cement consumption starting in August 2015, and additionally, the demand for both September and October 2015 also recorded increases with a 5% jump in cement consumption for September and October 2015.

During January-October 2015, the cement consumption in Indonesia increased 1.5% year-on-year to 49.5 million tonnes.
