According to the Vietnam Cement Association, only four cement producers managed to install waste heat gas generation (WHGG) systems at their plants by end of 2015 as instructed by the government.

These four companies are Cong Thanh, Ha Tien, Chinfon and 680 Holcim, while those said to have failed to comply with the instruction include Nghi Son Cement, Luks Cement Vietnam and Phuc Son Cement.

Under the instruction, cement producers are required to install WHGG systems at their factories in order to reduce power consumption by at least 20%, with the requirement only covering plants that producing more than 2,500tonnes of clinkers/day.

The association attributed the lack of compliance to the revenue slowdown caused by low demand as well as the large investment needed for WHGG systems.
