Cement giant 8161 LafargeHolcim has published its first Sustainability Report since the merger of French firm 725 Lafarge and Swiss company 680 Holcim.

The Sustainability Report 2015 outlines the Group’s economic, environmental and social performance and presents LafargeHolcim’s ambitious objectives as part of its new sustainability strategy, The 2030 Plan.

The report claims that LafargeHolcim is leading the cement industry on a number of sustainability issues. It says the Group has the lowest CO2 emissions per tonne of cement amongst international cement groups and has made further progress in reducing atmospheric emissions such as dust or NOX. LafargeHolcim is also said in the report to have increased its use of alternative fuels in its cement kilns. The Group has also been rehabilitating more quarries.

Eric Olsen, CEO of LafargeHolcim, said: “Sustainability is one of the key pillars of our corporate strategy. It determines the way we operate and defines the solutions that we offer our customers. It also encapsulates our determination to provide leadership within the construction sector and drive transformation. We will do this through the LafargeHolcim 2030 Plan. The overarching ambition of the plan is to transform our business and ensure that by 2030, one third of our revenue comes from products, services, and solutions offering enhanced sustainability performance.”
