643 Cemex celebrated Suppliers’ Day 2016 announcing the winners of the Mexican edition of Integrate, its Suppliers Innovation Programme.

From a field of 28 suppliers, Cemex recognised three winning ideas for their innovation and their contribution to the company; the communities where it operates, and the environment.

The ideas submitted mainly focused on providing more efficient processes, products, and services, and were subjected to an evaluation and voting process directed by a group of 20 executives and experts from different areas of the company.

Additionally, 40 companies earned the OHSAS 18001:2008 Standard and were recognised as Health and Safety Certified Suppliers.

In first place, Grupo Kopar’s idea was for a high efficiency valve for dust collectors, while in second place, Equipos y Explosivos del Noreste’s idea involved a low-density blasting agent (ANFO) made from a different fuel than the one currently used. It not only generates a cost reduction, but also achieves equal or better results in the displacement and fragmentation of each blast in Cemex’s quarries.

In third place, Vidmar’s CWB 25-50 automatic bag weigher is designed to perform automatic random cement bag weight sampling without human intervention, thus improving health and safety conditions.
