As part of its 10th Anniversary celebrations and 2017 Spring Events schedule, Nature After Minerals (NAM) will be visiting an ambitious project between the RSPB and Hanson to create Britain’s biggest reedbed at Needingworth Quarry/RSPB Ouse Fen reserve.
Not only has the project near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, east England, helped provide valuable habitat for bittern when numbers were dangerously low, it is also helping protect and re-establish populations of bearded tit, water vole, marsh harrier, otter and more, through the progressive restoration of this site for a nature conservation end-use.
The NAM visit on 28 February will continue the organisation’s focus on priority species conservation through the appropriate and sustainable restoration and management of minerals sites, for biodiversity gain.
Event organisers are urging interested parties to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment as limited places are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
