1508 Ciments Francais posted net consolidated profit down from €1 million in the first quarter of 2012 to €600,000 in the first quarter of 2013.

EBIT dropped 32.5% to €31 million, according to the 726 Italcementi Group subsidiary.

Weather conditions were much more severe than in the first quarter of 2012, which put additional pressure on the construction sector already affected by the recession in many countries in Europe.

Better prices could not offset the fall in sales in volume, which resulted in consolidated revenues down 7.3% to €819.40 million in the first quarter of 2013.

By activity, cement and clinker sales volumes fell 7.3% compared to a 8.6% drop for aggregates and a 1.1% drop for ready-mix concrete.
