French quarries to open up to public on 31 May and 1 June 2013

Unicem, the French cement industries' union, is to open up 150 sites (primarily quarries) to the public on 31 May and 1 June 2013 in a bid to improve the industry's image and show a more modern version of its activity. In 2009, the event attracted 53,000 visitors across 140 sites. The sector is worth some €10 billion and employs around 60,000 people
