Over the past 20 years Peter Slater has developed into one of the largest suppliers of crushers and screeners for hire throughout the UK.

The company started as Peter Slater Plant Hire in 1980 with a 633 JCB 3C, and in 1994, anticipating the demand for reclaiming brownfield sites and appreciating the inherit value in old masonry and hard landscaping materials, Lancashire Crushers was created. It is based in Preston, County Lancashire, north-west England.

Recently, Lancashire Crushers bought its first TD516 trommel screen from Danny Morgan of 613 Anaconda UK, and this was taken into the hire fleet to address customer requests for a drum screen capable of producing high volumes of waste material in applications such as skip waste fines, shredded waste, soil remediation, composting and wood chip.

Having tested the trommel screen in a number of these applications, Slater says he has been delighted with the results and now has three trommel screens out on full-time hire:

“Anaconda’s TD516 trommel is a superb piece of machinery. For such a compact machine, the performance is very impressive and it is extremely easy to operate. The size also means it is very easy to move around the country so it is ideal for our type of business,” says Slater.

“My customers have been very complimentary about the machine and I must congratulate Anaconda on such a well designed and well built piece of kit.”

Anaconda UK is the official distributor for Anaconda in England and Wales, and Danny Morgan started the company in 2012, having spent many years working for other crushing and screening distributors.

“The opportunity to become a distributor for Anaconda came in 2012 and it was something I couldn’t ignore. I had been watching its growth since I first saw the company at Hillhead [show, UK] in 2011 and was very impressed with the quality of the machines on offer.,” says Morgan.

“The range on offer from Anaconda was growing quickly so I felt it was too good an opportunity to miss. So far things have gone very well and the reception in the UK to date has been excellent. I have worked this market for many years and I am very grateful to the customers who have given me the chance to sell them. Those customers include Peter Slater who I would like to thank for his business this far.”

Slater added: “There are many options from screening suppliers in the UK but Danny is someone I have known for many years and I know I can trust him to provide the right equipment and the necessary after sales support. He is always on hand to help and it is good to see he has now gone out to do this for himself. I wish him every success.”

Lancashire Crushers’ range of services includes providing low loaders for transportation of machines such as screeners, excavators, crushers and loading shovels to supplying skilled operators, while Anaconda UK provides a range of tracked screens and mobile conveyors.

Anaconda’s equipment

JCB’s Ecomax, been newly introduced to Anaconda’s equipment, has recently fitted to two TD516 trommels destined for a customer in Hawaii.

“I am pleased to say that Anaconda is our first OE customer to take delivery of the latest JCB Ecomax engine and subsequently supply it to a customer in one of its machines,” says Malcom Pratt, power torque (performance engines, UK) .

The engine, claimed to be one of the world’s cleanest and most efficient off-highway engines, offers a reduction in emissions, and improved torque throughout the rev range coupled with “noticeably reduced fuel consumption.”

It builds on the success of the original Dieselmax engine and retains the same key characteristics such as high torque at low engine revs, robustness and reliability as well as low noise and vibration.

JCB says it is the only leading equipment manufacturer in the world to have met the stringent Stage IIIB/Tier 4 interim emissions legislation without the use of diesel particulate filter or after-treatment.
