417 Euro Auctions USA held its first Absolute Auction at its new North American headquarters in Newnan, south-east of Atlanta, Georgia, and according to the company it was a great success.

A total of 387 lots were presented for sale, including consignments from some of the largest rental companies in the US and other regional equipment and machinery dealers.

Buyers registering to bid on the day totalled 374, and physical bidders on the floor constituted the majority of purchasers with 35% of all sales being conducted online from the USA.

Bidders from 24 countries worldwide registered to participate in the sale.

Jonnie Keys, vice president of Euro Auctions, said: “With a first sale like this there is always an element of both trepidation and anticipation regarding the outcome. However, we have been extremely pleased with the final result.
“All the lots that Euro Auctions prepared for sale were received well. We were delighted with the participation of the local market, with 85% of sales attributed to American buyers of which 25% came from the Georgia area.

“The turnout on the day of both bidders and attendees was excellent and expressions of interest have been made for the next sale.

“We had long aspired to enter the USA market and by acquiring this site in late 2012 we located Euro Auctions squarely at the hub of the American equipment industry. We have excellent relationships with major US players with whom we secured some exceptional construction and industrial machinery from across south-east USA. The sale was a real success with buyers and sellers alike and we are now working hard on making the next sale an even bigger success.”

Another sale at the site is planned for 2 October and four further auctions are envisaged for 2014.
