PPC and Lafarge Cement eye Zimbabwe network expansion

The Zimbabwean subsidiary of South Africa-based cement producer PPC is looking to build a factory worth €179.81 million in Zimbabwe. The unit is currently conducting a feasibility study at the limestone deposit in Rushinga. The new plant will have an annual production capacity of one million tonnes. The Zimbabwean subsidiary of South Africa-based cement producer PPC is looking to build a factory worth €179.81 million in Zimbabwe. The unit is currently conducting a feasibility study at the limestone deposit in Rushinga. The new plant will have an annual production capacity of one million tonnes.

Meanwhile, another cement producer, Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe (725 Lafarge Cement), is revamping its operations in the country. The firm has posted a €6.46 million net operating income in 2013. In addition, it has spent around €7.68 million on capital expenditure in the year under review. Its gross turnover stood 3.3% lower in 2013 to €48.56 million.
