Carbon busting!

Recycling specialist Scott Bros is hosting a long-term Teesside University research programme that seeks to identify which waste materials are best at capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and storing it permanently in the form of carbonate minerals.

Scott Bros is working with researchers at Teesside University to scale up and commercialise a prototype brick that it has successfully engineered from recycled waste clay.

UK recycling experts Scott Bros. has invested £1 million in a new and environmentally-sustainable ‘urban quarry’.

The Teesside, north-east England company’s state-of-the-art wash plant takes waste material and converts it into high quality sand and aggregate for use in the building and construction industry.

It is capable of processing between 50 and 70 tonnes of waste/hour to produce both coarse and fine sand, together with three grades of aggregate.

The recycled products are not only cost-effect

Commissioning of Scott Bros’ new £4mn wash plant on Teesside, northeast England, is underway, with the ‘urban quarry’ expected to be fully operational within the next six weeks.
