With the help of a fleet of 40-plus
Wormall Civil, a civil construction engineering company based in Cardup, Australia, purchased its first Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) L70 wheeled loader when the movie Crocodile Dundee was still showing in cinemas. Since 1986, the family-owned company has grown through hard work and a dedicated staff of highly trained and experienced civil engineers, project managers and field staff with the support of CJD Equipment,
“The after-sales service from CJD Equipment has been faultless,” said Shannon Whincup, the plant and transport manager of Wormall Civil. “CJD is invaluable to us. Plus their product support staff knows everything we need to know about the machines.”
CJD Equipment has a dozen trained Volvo CE technicians on standby to help fix any issues right away. This reliable service is what helped build the partnership and trust between Wormall Civil and CJD Equipment over the past three decades, according to Whincup.
Since purchasing their first Volvo L70 wheeled loader in the ‘80s, Wormall Civil has added more than 40 Volvo CE machines including the L60F wheeled loaders and ECR145C excavators.
Wormall Civil’s success over the last 34 years has spread across both private development and government projects to include major projects along the northern coastal strip between Perth and Geraldton, as well as mining and resource developments in the Pilbara, the Mid and North West regions.
Currently a L60F and a L70F wheeled loader are deployed at the Piara Waters site, to import and fill sand around the site. The wheel loaders are also used as tool carriers, when used with a fork attachment. The wheel loaders work between 10 to 20 hours daily.
“We normally change our machines every 12,000 hours but one of our Volvo machines was in such good shape we were more than happy to keep it running within the business,” Whincup said. “There were no major dramas across the life of the machine so why would we go anywhere else. Our operators love the equipment — the cabins are great, the performance for our civil work is right up there, and everyone is happy.”
