Blantyre, Scotland-based Advance Construction Scotland has purchased another package of 473 Volvo excavators, which are all incremental to the company’s big fleet of equipment with options for even more machines later this year.

The company purchased its first Volvo compact excavators seven years ago, then again in 2012.

“Opting for Volvo has proved to be a good decision for us. The machines have performed faultlessly, they give a good return on the investment and not least have been well appreciated by our machine operators, so as we continue to expand, opting for more Volvo excavators hasn’t been a difficult decision,” says Gareth Mollan, Advance Construction’s plant manager.

“This time though, we’ve added an initial three EC140E excavators along with a 1.8tonne EC18D and a reduced swing ECR88D and will be looking to add more Volvos in the immediate future.

“One of the key factors to our continuing success and growth is retaining good excavator operators and so we take particular notice of their opinions.”

Founded in 1993 by Seamus Shields, Advance Construction Scotland provides professional groundworks and civil engineering services and offers a complete package of labour, plant and materials delivered by qualified and experienced engineers and site operatives.

Covering the whole of Scotland, the family run company now employing 1,400 people with an impressive £160 million (€182 million) turnover projected for 2018, has gained a reputation specialising in major contracts across the private sector in social housing and within the public sector, including hospitals and schools.

SMT GB, which sold the machines, markets Volvo Construction Equipment products which include wheeled loaders, articulated haulers, hydraulic excavators, Volvo utility equipment and Volvo road equipment products in Great Britain.
