The milestone will be marked at this year’s Operators Club Final on October 20th, where construction equipment operators from 19 countries across the EMEA region will compete in tests of competence skills and precision operation.
This year's venue is the Volvo CE manufacturing facility in Konz, Germany where the first Operators Club final was staged in 1998. The top three finalists from the 2017 competition – Austria’s Johannes Unger, Germany’s Sascha Moog and Switzerland’s Ueli Hunziker – will be competing for the title again.
The challenges for each year’s final are not communicated until the day of the final itself. In previous years they have included manoeuvring Volvo excavators through obstacle courses and demonstrating precise movements with various attachments – all against the clock. The operator with the quickest time – taking into account any penalties for mistakes – will be named the Operators Club champion 2018.
The Operators Club has more than 27,000 members, with each of the 19 club branches running their own activites throughout the year.
“Over the past 20 years, the Operators Club has provided an excellent way for Volvo machine operators to perfect their skills while at the same time having a whole lot of fun,” says Karl Serneberg, director of marketing within Volvo CE Sales Region EMEA.
