France-based cement producer 1607 Ciments Calcia has announced that it is to use biodegradble bags for all of its products by the end of the year. The new bags will use a corn-based plastic to replace the current bags which use polyethylene placed between two layers of kraft paper.
The 726 Italcementi subsidiary has said that the bags can be placed into composting facilities and will breakdown in just 12 weeks in that environment.
