The 122-acre site and quarry plant is located around 45 miles north-west of Fort Worth in Wise County with more than 25 years of quality limestone reserves.
Cemex USA says the acquisition will further strengthen its aggregates network and expand the company’s footprint into the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
"The Dallas-Fort Worth area is expected to grow exponentially over the next 30 years," said Joel Galassini, Cemex USA regional president—Texas and New Mexico region. "By acquiring a quarry that's currently operational, we can start contributing to that growth almost immediately and bring Cemex's strong network along with our expertise to projects in the Metroplex."
Cemex has operated quarrying facilities in Texas for nearly five decades, including the Balcones Quarry in New Braunfels, which was recently ranked as the top crushed stone operation by volume in the nation by the US Geological Survey. Its network in Texas includes one centrally-located cement plant, close to 10 distribution terminals, five aggregates operations and nearly 30 ready-mix plants.
The Cemex network in the US includes 11 cement plants, more than 50 distribution terminals, 50 aggregate quarries and nearly 270 ready-mix concrete plants.
