Cemex has produced its one millionth tonne of cement at its new plant in Broceni, west-central Latvia, the largest amount of cement produced and sold per year in the history of Latvia.
The plant's capacity completely satisfies the demand on the local market and also ensures supplies to the company's export markets of the Baltic States, Finland, Russia and Belarus.
"This is an important step on the factory's path towards reaching maximum capacity and the assessment of nearly 900 Cemex and logistics network employees' hard work in Latvia and our export countries," said the company's board member Maris Gruznins.
The symbolical one millionth ton was donated to the construction of Liktendarzs Amphitheatre in Koknese, central Latvia.
