Owners of cement factories in Egypt have asked the government to come up with alternative sites for factories operating in populated areas.

In addition, the government must also provide and equip ports to cater for coal shipments, as well as preparing suitable transportation infrastructure.

This came after the Egyptian government instructed cement factories to include coal within their energy mix. In addition, the owners also stated the standards made by the Ministry of Environment are more stringent than those in Europe. The standards are relating to coal storage, energy mix, transport, and trade.
