South of England based Hills Quarry Products said the Prime Minister explicitly stated construction and manufacturing should continue to work during the lockdown period from from November 5 to December 2, and the company added that its sites will remain open for business.
The company operates a network of seven quarries, six concrete plants and a rail depot, and supplies sand, gravel, stone, decorative aggregates, construction aggregates and ready-mixed concrete.
"All our workplaces and practices have been adapted to ensure they remain COVID-19 secure and we will continue to comply with Government guidance on managing the risks of COVID-19 including the five steps to safer working together," said group director Peter Andrew in the statement.
"We have made arrangements for employees to work from home where their role permits," he added.
Andrew said the company's priority remains to keep its employees, customers and the community in which it works safe, whilst ensuring that it delivers the highest quality of aggregates and ready-mixed concretes to its customers with minimal impact.
The company is continuing to monitor the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its operations and the group board meets regularly to ensure its resilient business continuity plan reflects the ongoing situation.
