Secil to buy Lafarge subsidiary

Portuguese cement producer Secil has announced that it has gained approval from the competition authority for its takeover of Lafarge’s subsidiary Lafarge Betoes.

Portuguese cement producer 873 Secil has announced that it has gained approval from the competition authority for its takeover of 725 Lafarge’s subsidiary Lafarge Betoes. It has been estimated that the Lafarge Betoes business is worth €65million but details of the transaction have not been released.

Portuguese cement company Secil signs contract to take over Lafarge Betoes.

The Portuguese cement company Secil has signed a contract to take over the concrete division, Lafarge Betoes, which belongs to the French group Lafarge.The French division, which oversees the concrete and aggregates business, runs 30 concrete plants and four aggregates processing facilities. The enterprise value of Lafarge Bretoes is estimated at €65 million, and to be concluded the deal must be cleared by Competition Authorities.

Holcim: ‘No takeover of Bamburi Cement’ post Lafarge merger

Holcim says it has no plans to make a takeover offer for Bamburi Cement in Kenya if competition regulators allow its planned near €30 billion merger with Lafarge.

The Switzerland-based cement manufacturing giant and France-based Lafarge are seeking antitrust backing for their merger.
