Secil upgrades Brazilian production capacity

The Portuguese cement group Secil is to upgrade the production capacity in Brazil up to the end of 2015 by 2 million tonnes/year. The move results from the operation of a second plant of its local division Supremo. It means a rise by 26% compared to the current capacity of 7.65 million tonnes, therefore increasing output to 9.65 million tonnes.

The Portuguese cement group 873 Secil is to upgrade the production capacity in Brazil up to the end of 2015 by 2 million tonnes/year.

The move results from the operation of a second plant of its local division Supremo.

It means a rise by 26% compared to the current capacity of 7.65 million tonnes, therefore increasing output to 9.65 million tonnes.

The new plant will be located in Adrianopolis in the state of Parana in the south of Brazil.

Supremo also runs another plant in Pomerode in the state of Santa Catarina.

At the end of first half of 2015 Supremo reported a business of €27.20 million (US$30.50 million) which translated in an increase by 1.7% compared to the same period of 2014.

The investment in the new plant will cost the Secil group €130 million.
