Spain's cement consumption down

According to Infocemento figures, cement consumption in Spain totalled 14.5million tonnes during the first eight months of 2011, which represents a 13.3% decrease compared to the same period in 2010. Cement production in this period dropped 12.4% to 15.7million tonnes, while exports remained at similar levels to 2010 (2.7million tonnes) and imports dropped 37.6%. Figures for August 2011 alone show that consumption dropped 16.5% to 1.7million tonnes, and production went down 23.5% to 1.8million tonnes.

According to 4304 Infocemento figures, cement consumption in Spain totalled 14.5million tonnes during the first eight months of 2011, which represents a 13.3% decrease compared to the same period in 2010.

Cement consumption drop in Andalucia

The suspension of public works in Spain is behind the 26% fall (to 186,970tonnes) in cement consumption in Andalucia in January 2012 compared to the same month of 2011, according to ACFA. Consumption also decreased by 16.91% dropping to 3.5million tonnes between February 2011 and January 2012, compared to the same period of 2010-11. Exports decreased by 15.94% over the same period to 35,000 tonnes, whilst imports fell 57.6% to 6,500 tonnes.
