Responding to customer requirements, 460 Sandvik has redesigned the UH421 to produce a safer and more environmentally friendly machine which is capable of achieving even higher productivity.

One of the major changes to the integrated mobile cone crusher and triple-deck screening model is the new feeder which has been redesigned for better spread of material and improved flow to the crusher, thereby optimising the crushing process and increasing production capacity.

The company says the upgrade incorporates many new features to improve both the operational effectiveness and safety of the machine with the walkways being reinforced to withstand greater pressure and the foldable back walls on the hopper having an improved design making them easier to lower ready for operation.

“The emergency stop buttons are positioned on an extended arm for easier access and the lighting masts are quicker and safer to adjust due to a hand winch system which raises and lowers the mast to working position, thus not compromising on operator safety,” says Sandvik.

The UH421 utilises the well-proven and electrically-powered Sandvik CH440 cone crusher, which has been used in the most arduous static applications for over 50 years.

Capable of high production, high reduction and low manganese wear, it has a number of crushing chambers and different settings available making it suitable for a wide range of different applications.

Fitted with an ultra-sonic sensor over the crushing chamber, which keeps the crusher choke fed and ASRi (automatic setting regulation system) fitted as standard, the crushing process is continuously and automatically monitored thereby providing optimal and trouble free operation.

“Designed for ease of transportation and quick set-up time, the unit has an air suspension three-axle bogie with ABS brakes and is equipped with a third self-steering axle for increased transportation possibilities.”

Sandvik says that other key features of the new UH421 include feed hopper with tippable grizzly which is operated via remote control; fingers now fitted with rollers to aid tipping and covers over every pivoting finger to eliminate blockages; new design of belt scraper to eliminate material build up on the machine and walkways; the product discharge conveyor for coarse fractions has been enlarged resulting in a greater production capacity, and reinforcement steel support frames to canvas covers prevent build-up of material on the screen.

The user-friendly control panel provides full automated control of the process facilitating troubleshooting and maximising uptime.

“These new features are aimed at ensuring the UH421 is now as user and environmentally focused as it is productive, efficient and versatile and will soon provide a quick return on investment due to its low operating costs and low maintenance features,” added Sandvik.
